Dear Fifth Grade Parents,
The week of March 31th – April 4th we will be ITBS testing. We will be testing the following week possible on Monday and Tuesday as well. Please remember to have your child get lots of sleep especially during this next week. Please try the best you can to be present at school next week.
Math
We will be ITBS testing this week.
Religion
We will be ITBS testing this week.
Social Studies
The fifth graders will continue working on Chapter 9, Life in Williamsburg next week. We are currently visiting various locations in Williamsburg, learning about them and doing an activity. Students should be reviewing the online test at home, rereading the Chapter and reviewing notes in Interactive Notebook for the test on April 10th. (Yes, this is the real date this time!!) Students should be studying the Map of the 50 States at home. The test will be on May 2nd.
Science
Students will learn about natural cycles in an ecosystem. They will discover how carbon dioxide, oxygen, nitrogen and water cycle through an ecosystem.
Reading

Language Arts
Students have started a long unit on prefixes, suffixes, and root words. In this unit, students will identify what each prefix and suffix means, along with applying prefixes and suffixes to root words. This unit will continue up to the end of ITBS testing, April 8th. During ITBS testing students will have light homework in Language Arts.
Students will not have a spelling test during the first week ITBS testing. Students will receive spelling words again on April 1st. Their next spelling test will be April 8th.
The unit test on the material covered in class will be April 10th.
