Dear Fifth Grade Parents,

 I hope you have a great three-day weekend! The following is a curriculum update for the week of 3/24 -3/28.

 Reminders: MASS MARCH 26th (WEDNESDAY)

5A Attends Morning Mass as a class: March 26th, 7:45am

Religion

The fifth graders will be taking the Chapter 18 on Thursday (3/27). It will be open book but the students would benefit from really studying the study guide! Monday we will have a Chapter review in class. 5A will be attending MASS as a on Wednesday March 26th at 7:45am!!!

 Math

Monday 3/25: Ch. 8, Check My Progress Lessons 1-4

 Tuesday 3/26: Quiz Lessons 1-3!

 Wednesday 3/27Ch. 8, L. 5, Least Common Multiple

 Thursday 3/28 Ch. 8 L. 6, Comparing Fractions

 Friday 3/29 Ch. 8, Hands On Use Models to Write Fractions as Decimals.

 Social Studies

 The fifth graders are working on Chapter 9 in class. They are visiting various parts of Williamsburg and learning about daily life in the colonies.  Test is changed to April 3rd.

 Language Arts

 Students have started a long unit on prefixes, suffixes, and root words. In this unit, students will identify what each prefix and suffix means, along with applying prefixes and suffixes to root words. This unit will continue up to the start of ITBS testing, March 31st. During ITBS testing students will have light homework in Language Arts.

 Students will have a suffix quiz on March 27th. After ITBS testing concludes, students will have a unit test on prefixes, suffixes and root words.

 Science

 Students will take a quiz on lesson 1 & 2 next Wednesday.

 Students are learning what food chains, food webs and energy pyramids show about energy flow in an ecosystem.

 To help students understand these concepts, they will create a food webs and an energy pyramid for an Antarctic ecosystem.  

 5th Grade Reading: Book Clubs!! Yay!!
