Science
Students will finish their unit on the Rock Cycle and briefly discuss the Water Cycle. Students will be given a study guide for a combined quiz on Rock Cycle and Water Cycle which will be the week of 6/1 (day TBD).
Social Studies
Next week we will be taking the Lesson 13 test on Friday, 5/29. The study guide for this test was placed on Google Classroom on 5/18. The students should be studying at home a bit each night by following the study guide. Please note the Capitals test is next week:

ELA
Hello HRS families! Next week will be mostly dedicated to Genius Hour. I will introduce the next vocab unit on Tuesday, and the rest of the day will be for research. So far, we have had one full research day, so if you want to check in with your child, look for a complete note page that has C.A.R.P. at the top, each letter rated 4, 3, 2, 1. Besides a CARP test, the note page should have the following: name of the source (example: Britannica), title of the article, the main idea of the article (one sentence using the “High Five” strategy), a citation with the author’s name, and around three paraphrased details. We practiced paraphrasing by rearranging the order of words and phrases, and also changing/adding words. There are examples on Google Classroom, as well as other resources, including a complete note page with examples of paraphrased details. Students can expect the following outline for next week:
Tuesday: vocab and read and analyze source two. *Students can finish at home if they need more time.
Wednesday: shorter classes, so I will use this time to show students what their presentations should look like.
Thursday: full research day: source three.
Friday: Full research day: source four.
The following week we will begin building slideshows.
