Boomerang Newsletter: October 17, 2025

Dear 5A Parents,

We have had a very productive week! We are hoping for the Mariners to win tonight!! For those of you who like to plan ahead, 5A will be leading the Prayer Service for the school on December 5th. I wanted to tell you in case you need to make arrangements to come. We would love for you all to come! It is on Friday, December 5th in the School Hall. Plan to be there at 8:30am to get a seat. It usually starts at 8:40am.

Mid-Trimester Reports

Students will be coming home with their Mid-Trimester Reports and Fall Maps Testing Scores. We ask that students return the envelope (empty) next week. Please note that on the Mid-Trimester Report you will see a section which shows students grades from Alma. There will also be a section for “Behavior and Work Skills”. This section will not be on the Report Card for Trimester 1. It is however an area that students are working on constantly. Students also do a self-reflection of how they feel they are doing in these areas.

Fall Fund Drive:

We are getting close to 100% class participation. Our class will earn a sweet treat for reaching this goal, so please help us reach it!

We’re halfway through the Fall Fund Drive and thrilled to share that we’ve already raised 50% of our $200,000 goal.

Your support helps ensure our students continue to benefit from essential programs like art, library, music, PE, Spanish, and technology — all vital to educating the whole child.

Let’s keep the momentum going! Help us reach our fundraising and participation goals by encouraging friends and family to contribute to the Fall Fund Drive. Every gift makes a difference.

We will also play a review game in class next week.

ELA

Hello HRS families! Next week, we will continue our study of Number the Stars, with extra emphasis on finding motifs to turn into theme statements. Students are also beginning to cite evidence from the book to use in short paragraphs. Students can expect some reading at home next week, as well as the vocab and spelling test on Friday. They should continue finding challenge words from the novel and use context clues to guess at the meaning. This can make for good conversation about the book at home. Have a great weekend!
