2025/26 School Calendars
This is a curriculum update for the week of October 27 – 31, 2025:
Circle of Grace
We have completed our Circle of Grace lesson. I have attached a parent letter that we give out at the conclusion of teaching this lesson. Please see the attachment on this email.
Religion
We have been working on Chapter 2 Made to Be with God. Students have been working on the Study Guide for this lesson and it is due on Tuesday (10/28). In class on Tuesday we will be reviewing it and students will have the chance to add to their answers or correct them. We are also working on our first Google Slideshow. This slideshow is entitled “Our Catholic Life.” There is a rubric on Google Classroom explaining this assignment. I also went through the rubric in class to explain it. We will be continuing to work on this slideshow in class next week! Looking ahead, the Chapter 2 Test will be on Tuesday ( 11/4).
Second Step – Lesson 3 Bystander Responsibility
Math – Ms. Semandiris
The students have been working very hard in math class to show all their work on graph paper neatly and in a way that I have set as the standard for this year. I have noticed students take pride in their neat work and by showing their work neatly they are accurately computing because it is clearly written.
*This is a reminder that students have been instructed to turn in any late/missing work and test corrections in the “Late/Missing Work Bin” in my classroom.
*As we get into the Chapters for Long Division, there may be some problem solving questions on the homework that are more challenging by nature. The rule of thumb for math homework is try to complete all the problems. If you have given it a try you will still receive full credit for the homework even if you have an incorrect answer. Then in class we will take a deeper look at the problems students had difficulties solving in class when we correct together.

Science
Students are continuing their journey into Environmental Engineering. Next week we will simulate containing and cleaning up an oil spill. Students will work in teams to determine what materials work the best to remove oil from water, and redesign their process using the Engineering Design Process. We will also talk about the consequences of real life oil spills.
Social Studies
Next week we will begin Lesson 4, Why Europeans Came to the New World? Students will examine objects/artifacts from an explorer’s sunken ship. Then they will categorize artifacts as navigation tools, motives for exploration, or new products from the Americas. Students will work in pairs as research scientists and deep sea divers. They are encouraged to bring in swim goggles for class during this lesson. Looking ahead the test for Lesson 4 will be on (11/14) The student guide will be on Google Classroom on (11/7).
ELA
Next week, we will start unit 4 in our vocab books and begin our study of plot. I use the film The Lion King to teach students how to analyze a story’s plot, conflict, and themes. Students will then apply this to Number the Stars and the short story students will eventually write. We will be learning terms like conflict, exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution. We will also continue to practice completing theme statement tables using example stories and our novel, Number the Stars. Remember, students should be filling out their challenge word worksheets while they read. I have a digital copy available on Google Classroom if that’s preferred. Have a great weekend!
