E.L.A

Hello, families! This past week, students participated in a mystery reader’s theater called “Who Stole Santa’s List?” While this was very exciting for many of us, we had some issues with students reading ahead and revealing the ending of the mystery at recess. This was frustrating for many students who were excited for the reveal, so looking forward, I ask that students not read ahead when we are conducting whole class readings. This applies to Wonder as well. When we get back from break, we will continue reading Wonder. Students will complete their double-entry at home, following the chapters we read in class. Students should apply new skills in their journals, recognizing that quotes are explicit details, and commentary includes inferences about those details. We will also continue to analyze themes and practice crafting an essay on a theme. Thanks, and have a wonderful break.
