Students will receive instructions and a grading rubric for the 2nd Trimester Book Report tomorrow. This report will be a combination written/oral report. The due date is Feb. 21st, which is also when the oral reports will begin. There are several mini-due dates along the way to keep students focused and organized.

We will begin a new selection in our Scott Foresman Reading text, which will focus on distinguishing between fact and opinion through a wonderful story of a young person who gets involved in doing service for the homeless.

Language Arts: We use different parts of speech to create diamante poems about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Students have grading criteria sheets to follow while completing most of this assignment in class. Spelling homework is due on Monday. Our test will be on Monday. Forgive my delay in posting material on the website: our school server has been down. I do encourage students to check my web page for hints and links to websites that help them practice various language skills.

We will be starting Chapter 7, comparing the Colonies. Students will be learning about the similarities and differences of the between the New England Colonies, Middle Colonies and the Southern Colonies. Each group will be assigned a colony. They will be working in groups to create a billboard to lure people to their colony.
