Dear Fifth Grade Parents,
We are having a wonderful Catholic Schools Week! The following is a curriculum update for the week of Feb 8-11.
Our 5A Students Eleanor & Jake did a wonderful job in the Spelling Bee today!!

Winter Break: 2/12, 2/15, 2/16
Students will be taking the Ch. 15 Religion test on Monday 2/8. They have completed their study guides in class. They should be studying for it!!!
2/8- Check My Progress Ch. 6 L. 1_4
2/9- Ch. 6, L. 6, Multiply Decimals by Powers of 10
2/11-Ch. 6, L. 7 Problem Solving Investigation
The Fifth Graders are working on Ch. 8 Facing Slavery. Students are working together in class to find solutions to the dilemmas the West Africans faced. The test for this chapter will be on 2/18. (This is a change from last week’s boomerang.) Study guide will be handed out one week in advance.
Students did a fantastic job on their inventions. I saw many creative ideas and products!
Students will investigate the niche of the barn owl by dissecting owl pellets. Students will use a bone chart to identify the species of small animals that barn owls prey upon.
Students will take a quiz on lessons 1 & 2 next Wednesday.
This week in grammar students reviewed transitions and focused on grouping them into useful categories for their writing. In writing students continued working on their Holy Rosary School opinion essay. They wrote the body paragraphs and edited these in class. Students will submit their final drafts next week.
