Boomerang Newsletter: November 15, 2024

Dear Fifth Grade Parents,

Today I attended the Mid-Fall Grace Meeting in the afternoon. We had a great afternoon of learning and collaboration. Thank you all for signing up for conferences and turning in the pre-conference form. I wanted to add that our 5A class is really doing well in the area of materials management. They have improved significantly with all the transitions we do throughout the day. They are really amazing to me!!

ELA

Hello HRS families! It was so much fun seeing our students work on their final projects this week in class. The variety of projects and creativity shown sure does make this teacher proud and inspired. Good job 5th graders. I’ve reminded students that all projects need to show the novel’s theme in a creative way, so if you see your child working on this at home, It could be helpful to ask, “how are you showing the theme?” For the history buff and newspaper article projects, this can be a little tricky at first, but what students can do is describe the power of community, and the need for courage in WWII, especially when it comes to people fighting in the resistance and helping Jews escape. Let me know if you have any questions about the projects.

Projects are due on Tuesday, November 19th and students will share their project with the class. Along with this, we are finishing up unit 5 for vocab and spelling. 5A needs to take the test on Thursday because of the half day on Friday. 5B will take it on Friday. Students will also return their Number the Stars Novel next week as well. Have a great weekend!
