Dear 5A Parents,

We had a great week! Students have been working hard in their classes. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! ~ Ms. Semandiris

“Shugs Ice Cream Social”: June 6th 12:00pm – 12:40pm (Front of School & School Hall) This will be our 5th Grade End of the Year party. We will also celebrate the summer birthdays that day so those students will claim their birthday free dress if they have not already.  We thank Alex Alston and Family for donating this to the 5th Grade classes!!

Yearbooks – Grades 5 & 6 will receive their Yearbooks on Friday, June 6th. We will be going over the proper etiquette of signing Yearbooks with the 5th graders. Yearbooks may be brought back to school but must stay in students’ backpacks in their lockers until a specific time that the teacher has assigned to sign Yearbooks. Students may bring Yearbooks outside to recess.

ELA

Hello HRS families! We have an exciting week coming up. Students will present their Genius Hour projects to the class. Please note that these were due today (Friday), so if your child didn’t finish, they should make final touches over the weekend. There are resources on Google Classroom if you have questions. Students are also practicing presentation/public speaking skills using PV-LEGS (poise, voice, life, eye contact, gestures, and speed). Demonstrating these skills is a small portion of their overall grade, so it’s worth practicing at home. I decided to have the last book club meeting on Monday because I know students had a lot on their plates this past week. If they followed the reading schedule they created in their groups, they should be all finished, or close to finished, by today. I hope you have a great weekend, and let me know if you have questions about presentations.

*Also Note: today was the last day to show me theme essay revisions. I’m very impressed by students’ dedication to growth in the revision/editing process
