Next week students will take the Lesson 10 Tensions Grow Between the Colonies and Great Britain on Monday March 24th.
Next we will move on to Lesson 11, To Declare Independence of Not. In this lesson students will learn all about a Loyalist or a Patriot as the class prepares for a panel debate. Students will be working in groups to get a presenter ready for the panel debate between Loyalists and Patriots.
Science
Students are learning about how energy flows through an ecosystem. Next week we will be looking at what plants need to grow. We will be growing alfalfa sprouts and taking data each day on how the mass is changing as the plant grows. Students will be exploring the scientific inquiry method while working through this week’s activities.
ELA
Hello HRS families! Next week, we will be finishing Wonder. At this point, students have selected a theme that they will write about in the final essay. I’ve reminded students that it’s okay to have two themes now, as long as they pick one before the final. The last double-entry is a little bit different, as they don’t need a quote for every chapter. Rather, I’d like them to add any quote that matches their chosen theme as they’re reading. Their theme should be at the top of the journal. If you have questions about this, let me know. We will be filling out a graphic organizer for their essays, while also practicing to write an essay as a class using a theme about family. This will set them up for success when we get to the final Wonder essay. No spelling words next week, as we are prepping for the final and finishing the book. Take care!
