Science

Students had a lot of fun looking at how we can use properties of materials to describe and looking at phase changes of materials. This week we started a new unit, Matter and the Flow of Energy. Students will be looking at how interconnected ecosystems are and how energy flows through the system. This will be a great unit before Camp Seymour as they will be exploring these ideas at camp as well.

Social Studies

Next week we will continue our study of Lesson 10. Students have received the study guide for this lesson on Google Classroom and the test will be on Monday (3/24). We will be reviewing the 6 major events that led up to the Revolutionary War by doing Metaphor Skits in class next week. Students should be following the study guide to study for the test.

ELA

Hello, and happy weekend to you all. Next week, we are getting closer to the end of Wonder, so expect some reading at home and in class.  I will put the due date for the next double-entry journal on the matrix. I’ve been seeing a ton of growth in students’ writing in these journals. The goal is for students to be able to identify passages that reveal something important: a motif, a theme, character traits, conflict, etc… As we get to the end of the book, we will begin to prepare for the final essay on the book’s theme. The double-entries will be a critical tool for students when writing their essays. We will write one as a class before students begin planning. There will be a spelling and vocab test on Friday, too. Thanks families!
