Read about diverse historical perspectives from the 1600s. Then rank colonial belief statements and engage in respectful discussions. Essential Question:How were the three colonial regions alike and different?
- Identify key features of six colonies: Massachusetts Bay, Rhode Island, New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Georgia.
- Explore historical events from multiple perspectives. • Compare and contrast the New England, Middle, and Southern colonies.
- Draw conclusions from a map.
Science
Students are continuing their engineering design process. Students will be giving casual presentations of their invention convention projects and continuing work on their parachute designs! Students will have the opportunity to work in groups and design a parachute that fits specific parameters to fit in a “spacecraft”.
ELA
Hello HRS families. Next week, we will continue to read Wonder. Please follow the matrix to find which chapters to read at home. Students will find quotes while they read and add them to their double-entry journal. For part one (pages 1-80), they will need to find ten quotes for full credit. For each quote, students write two sentences of commentary, in which they analyze the quote with inferences, predictions, and wonderings. I have examples on Google Classroom. These journals can be handwritten, or typed on Google Classroom. Students may still arrange a time to show me short story corrections before or after school. This is a great opportunity for students to improve upon their writing skills as they identify common mistakes in their writing. We have no spelling and vocab test next week, too. Have a great weekend!
