Dear Fifth Grade Parents,
I wanted to let you know that I will be having a medical procedure on my foot tomorrow and therefore I will not be at school tomorrow and next week. Mr. Schreck will be subbing for me and he will take great care of the students while I am away. Please note to email the office@holyrosaryws.org as well as Ms. Finney vfinney@holyrosaryws.org while I am gone if you need anything as I may not be checking my email consistently while I am recovering. I will be back after the new year!

Social Studies
Next week the European Explorer Slideshow will be due on Monday 12/16. Students will use Social Studies class next week to prepare for their group presentations on 1/10/25.
ELA
Hello HRS families! Next week, students are drafting and printing their short stories. Please note that these will be written in ELA classes and not at home. I find this to be the best way to get authentic student writing, and it allows me to give one-on-one support. There are several resources on Google Classroom, including sample stories from past 5th graders, the rubric, and notes from class. Students should have two things done by Monday: The “Planning Your Protagonist” packet and the Short Story Planner (on Google Classroom). Students have been discussing and planning some awesome stories and I’m so excited to read them over break! They will print a final draft on Wednesday or Thursday. With any extra time, we will do a reader’s theater. Have a great weekend!
