Camp Seymour Reminders
Depart: Wednesday April 30, 2025
- Please take the time to talk to your child about camp. Remind them that camp is considered school, even though they are outdoors.
- Arrive at school at the normal time on Wednesday, April 30th. Have your child bring all bags to the school hall. After this is done, have your child report to their classroom for attendance.
- Please bring a non-perishable (Nut Free) sack lunch on Wednesday, April 30th. We will be eating lunch when we arrive at camp. Please do not include any plastic containers because we will need to dispose of everything after lunch.
- Please have your child bring up all medication to the classroom. Medication should be in one plastic baggy with your student’s name on the bag. Make sure that everything in the baggy is labeled and in the original container.
- Parents are welcome to stay to help us load the buses. We will depart around 9:15am.
Return: May 2, 2025:
- We will return from camp between 12:00 pm and 12:30 pm on Friday afternoon May 2nd. Please be at Holy Rosary to pick up your child to go home!
ACRE Testing: 5A – April 8, 2025
Many Catholic schools nationwide have their students in grades 5, 8, and 11 take an annual test – the ACRE – Assessment of Children Religious Education. This assessment is designed to assist in the evaluation of religious education programs in Catholic schools and parishes. Schools and parish faith formation programs see the ACRE as a tool that asks students both faith knowledge questions and questions related to religious beliefs, attitudes, practices, and perceptions, and then uses the results to help make improvements not only to our religion curriculum but also to our teaching strategies and how we deliver the curriculum. Furthermore, ACRE data can shed light on elements that are not the exclusive domain of the school’s curriculum or instruction, such as physically getting children to attend Sunday Liturgy.

Science
We have been learning about ecosystems and how they can become unbalanced. We started a simulation last week and will discuss how an ecosystem becomes balanced with producers, omnivores, herbivores and top predators. Students will be put into groups and make short presentations about the different biomes on our planet, aquatic, forest, desert, tundra, and grasslands.
Social Studies
We will be having our Patriot vs. Loyalists debate on Monday (4/7). Students should have their speaking part written or printed out so they have it ready for Monday! Also, students have been planning to bring in a costume that could work for the colonial time period. This does not have to be anything that you go out and buy! It would be a jacket and hat or a shall. Students will come to school in their uniform and then they will put the costume on over their uniform or change before Social Studies class for the presentation. The study guide for the Lesson 11 Test is on Google Classroom and the test is on Friday, April 11th.
ELA
Hello HRS families! I hope you are enjoying the sun. This last week, students were taught how to complete a graphic organizer to plan an essay. We also wrote a theme essay together using a sample theme. Next week, students will begin planning their own essay. They will be drafting their essays in class only so that I can support students in the writing process. If students want to prepare at home, they can continue to look for quotes in their double-entry and in the book that support their theme. I will also put my notes, sample essays, and an outline on Google Classroom just in case your child missed these lessons or needs reminders. Students will also bring home a permission slip to view Wonder, the film. We will complete a compare and contrast activity using the book and the film. Let me know if you have questions or concerns. Lastly, I plan on doing the spelling test next Friday so that students can keep their minds focused on their theme essays.
