Dear 5A Parent!

Bingo Bash Reminders!
Gr. 5 – 8: Friday, 6PM, School Hall
Thank You Families! Thank you to all of the families who signed up for Bingo Bash. Doors to the School Hall and gym open promptly at 6pm on Friday. Please wait calmly outside the main doors until teachers welcome you in.
Reminders: Please remember that ALL STUDENTS K-8 MUST BE SIGNED IN/OUT with their child’s homeroom teacher. If you are carpooling, it is fine to sign in/out students under your care. We especially do not want students to leave the gym/hall without an adult. Please make sure your child understands this and that you have clearly communicated your carpool plans. Thank you for your help in this matter.
Pick up: is at 8:00 pm. If you arrive a few minutes early while we are wrapping up, you may sign your student(s) out with the homeroom teacher and enjoy watching the final events. Early sign out will help speed things up for dismissal. We’d like all students to be off campus by 8:15pm if possible, so staff can clean up.
Cell Phones/ Watches: If they absolutely need to come with your child, they should be off and away at all times.
Behavior: Please remind your child of Safe, Respectful and Responsible behavior during Bingo and emphasize your expectations. We look forward to this event all year and want it to be fun for everyone!!!!

The following is a curriculum update for the week of April 20 – 24, 2026:
Religion
This week we completed the Ch. 17 Liturgy of the Word Study Guide. On Monday we will go over the study guide to make sure the students have the correct answers. The test for this Lesson will be on Friday April 24th.
Many Catholic schools nationwide have their students in grades 5, 8, and 11 take an annual test – the ACRE – Assessment of Children Religious Education. This assessment is designed to assist in the evaluation of religious education programs in Catholic schools and parishes. Schools and parish faith formation programs see the ACRE as a tool that asks students both faith knowledge questions and questions related to religious beliefs, attitudes, practices, and perceptions, and then uses the results to help make improvements not only to our religion curriculum but also to our teaching strategies and how we deliver the curriculum. Furthermore, ACRE data can shed light on elements that are not the exclusive domain of the school’s curriculum or instruction, such as physically getting children to attend Sunday Liturgy. 5A will be taking this assessment on 4/28 during Technology class.

Next week students will continue in Lesson 11 To Declare Independence of Not. Students will begin to plan for the debate between the 4 Patriots and 4 Loyalists. Students will be placed in groups and assigned either a Patriot or a Loyalist and they will go through a process to bring to life that person in a town hall debate.
ELA
Hello HRS families! Next week, we will be finishing Wonder. At this point, students have selected a theme that they will write about in the final essay. The final double-entry covers Part Seven: Miranda to the end of the book. I’d like them to focus on adding quotes that match their chosen theme as they’re reading, but they may also pick a few quotes that stand out to them as important for other reasons. Their theme should be at the top of the journal, so I recommend checking in with your child about their theme and have them show you a quote that matches it. If you have questions about this, let me know. We will continue to practice writing theme essays next week, before they write their own. There is also a final set of Wonder vocab that students received this past week. We will have a quiz on these words at the end of next week. I hope you have a great weekend!
