Dear Fifth Grade Parents,

I hope that you all have a wonderful Easter and spring break. I know that we all need a little break to be with our families!! The Boomerang envelope will be brought home with students tomorrow. We did not finish stuffing it today! We tried!!!!

The Family Life book will be going home tomorrow in the Boomerang. Please read the letter attached to the book for instructions. We will begin Family Life classes after the break!

Math
Monday 5/2: Lesson 85, Converting Units of Capacity
Tuesday: 5/3: Lesson 86, Test 16
Wednesday: 5/4: Lesson 86, Multiplying Fractions and Whole Numbers
Thursday, 5/5: Lesson 87, Using Manipulatives to Divide Fractions

Religion
After the break we will be starting Chapter 19, Answering God’s Call. We will looking at the questions, How do people answer God’s call through the Sacraments of Service?

Social Studies
After spring break the 5th graders will begin Chapter 14, The Constitution. Students will be learning about the events that lead to the creation of a Constitution and learn about the three branches of our government. We will also be learning about the idea of “Checks and balances”.

Language Arts
The students have done a wonderful job memorizing and presenting poetry this week! Did you know that some of the students even recited their poems over the intercom to inspire the rest of the school? We continue to work on the rough drafts of our Earth Day poems and will finish the final drafts and illustrations once we return from Easter break.

Science
Students will attempt to move their vehicles using rubber band energy. They will evaluate the design of their vehicles for rubber band energy.
