In this week’s Boomerang envelope there is a “Homework for Parents” questionnaire. Please complete it and return next week. Thanks for your help!

10/31 – All Saint’s Day Mass 8:45am, Halloween Party 2:00pm – 2:45pm.

Religion

Next week we will begin Chapter 14, Reborn In Christ. We will be learning about the Sacraments of Initiation. We will also learn about the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) Process. Students will receive a study Guide for this chapter on Wednesday 11/5.

Math

11/3 – Ch. 2 Test

11/4 – Ch. 3 L. 1, Relate Division to Multiplication

11/5 – Ch. 3 L. 2, Hands On Division Models

11/6 – Ch. 3 L. 3 Two-Digit Dividends

11/7 – Ch. 3 L. 4, Division Patterns

Social Studies

The fifth graders have been working on Chapter 5, Routes of Exploration to the New World. In this lesson students will be able to explain how the voyages of Christopher Columbus encouraged the major powers of Europe to explore the Americas between the 15th and 17th centuries. They will be able to identify areas in North America claimed by explorers sponsored by Spain, France, Holland and England. Students will be able to describe the impact of expeditions of 8 European explorers. We will be working in pairs to complete the Interactive Notebook in class. The test for this Chapter will be on November 15th.

Science

Students begin Chapter 2, The Earth’s Resources. Students will explore where resources come from. They will be able to identify and distinguish renewable and nonrenewable resources.

Reading

The fifth graders continue to enjoy Hatchet while working on skills to increase comprehension. The students have problem-solved ways to work more effectively in a small group setting.
