Students will take the Chapter 15 Test on 2/6. On Monday 2/3, they chapter 15 study guide is due. We will go over it in class to make sure everyone has the correct answers. We will also review the information from the chapter.

Next week, we will work on our second chapter. In Ch. 2, we are solidifying our conversions between fractions, decimals, and percents. We will also learn some helpful tricks for many different F/D/% conversions. Our daily warm-up also will reinforce these skills.
Social Studies
Next Week students will take the Chapter 7, Comparing the Colonies test on 2/4. The Farewell Letter is due on 2/4. Students may use the letter they write on the test. ( They have a handout with instructions for what needs to included in the letter.) Next week we will move on to Chapter 8 Facing Slavery. We will learn about the West African perspective and experience of facing slavery during the colonial period.
LA
Today, we had our Lesson 9 Spelling Quiz. Our next Spelling Quiz, Lesson 10 including challenge words, will be in two weeks on Thursday February 13th. Words can be found on my website: https://6b.holyrosaryws.org/5th-la/. We will spend only a little time next week reviewing and preparing for the quiz because we will be introducing our next essay! Students will be writing an informative essay to examine a topic to clearly convey ideas and information in a well organized essay. We will also be reviewing our MLA format. Students will be given a rubric and prompt on Tuesday, February
Science
Students did a fantastic job on their inventions. I saw many creative ideas and products! Students will discover what makes producers important in an ecosystem. They will also learn how consumers get their energy. Students will take an Ecology quiz on lessons 1 & 2 in their textbooks next Friday. They will complete two study guides in class to help them prepare.
