Religion
After Thanksgiving break we will be mainly preparing for our 5A prayer service. I have handed out a hard copy to each student of their reading part. They can practice reading it aloud over the Thanksgiving break if they wish. The prayer service is on Friday December 5th at 8:40am. I recommend getting to the school hall by 8:30am to get a seat! We hope you can all be there. On Tuesday, (12/2) our class will go to the Sacrament of Reconciliation. I will be preparing students by explaining and taking them through the “Examination of Conscience” on Monday (12/1). If your child is not Catholic, they will not be receiving the Sacrament of Reconciliation but they are welcome to receive a blessing. We all go to this Sacrament as a class during our Religion class period.

ELA
Hello HRS families! Seeing all of your children’s final projects for Number the Stars has been a blast, and I’m very much proud of their hard work. After break, we will have a bit of extra time to look at and even play some of the board games students made. Students will also begin organizing and drafting a piece of short fiction using the problem-solution formula. I will review simple sentences, as well as using conjunctions to make compound and complex sentences with commas. Writing effective descriptions with imagery, sensory details, and figurative language will become even more relevant in the first couple weeks of December. Trimester Two will mark the beginning of our second novel, Wonder. We have so much fun learning to look forward to. Have an excellent Thanksgiving Break.
