Dear Fifth Grade Parents,

Math
Friday: Lesson 35, Problems About Comparing
Monday: Test # 6
Tuesday: Lesson 36, Classifying Triangles

Religion:
We are learning about the Sacrament of Baptism. Students are working on their “my Baptism” collages. These will be due on Tuesday. We will do the artwork in class!

Social Studies
Tomorrow, the fifth graders will take the Chapter 4 test. We have already begun Chapter 5 and the students are really enjoying it. We are learning about 8 European Explorers who came to the Americas.

Students will learn how water changes state-and the way these states relate to one another on earth in the water cycle.

Reading
The 5th graders should be extremely proud of their book reports! They will be on display for all to enjoy. We will continue reading in the novel, Hatchet. This week we are focusing on the themes of patience as well as observation and appreciation for the natural world. We have been discussing the changes that are occurring in the main character as the story unfolds. Homework has involved working with the vocabulary and comprehension questions. On Thursday the students will be practicing their oral reading strategies.

Language Arts: Students review singular, plural and possessive nouns. They will take a grammar quiz on these concepts on Tuesday, November 20th. A study guide will be sent home this Friday (and will be accessible from my web page.)

Science
Students will learn how water changes state-and the way these states relate to one another on earth in the water cycle.

Happy Thanksgiving!
