May is a very busy month here in the fifth grade! Tomorrow is the Talent Show and Spirit Day. The students should wear 60’s, Hippie Day!!! Next Friday is Field Day with a Noon Dismissal 5/23. Please turn in the permission slips by tomorrow 5/16!

Religion
We are currently working on Ch. 19 Sacraments of Commitment. The test for this lesson will be Friday, May 30th.
Social Studies
The fifth graders will begin Chapter 11, To Declare Independence or Not. In this lesson we will be learning about three prominent Loyalists and three prominent Patriots. Students will work in small groups to prepare to bring to life one of the six historical figures we are studying. The students will hold a lively panel discussion on whether or not to declare independence.
Science
Students are beginning a new unit on the human body. In Chapter 3 of the Family Life text, students will look at messages they receive from communication media. They will learn the importance of honesty and respect in good communication and prayer as a communication with God.
Language Arts
Students are currently finishing their unit of Descriptive Writing. Next week students will start a short unit on Subject and Predicates which will continue until the end of May. Below are the following dates for upcoming quizzes and tests.
