Dear Fifth Grade Parents,
I hope you are all doing well this week! We have been very busy here in the fifth grade. The following is a curriculum update for the week of 3/9 – 3/13.
Reminders:
March 11th – 7:45am Attend Mass a class!!
March 18th – Camp Seymour Parent Meeting in 5A classroom 6pm – 7pm!
Religion
The fifth grade will be attending Mass on 3/11 (Wednesday) at 7:45am. We hope that everyone can attend!
The Ch. 17 test will be on Wednesday 3/11. We will move on to Ch. 18, The Liturgy of the Eucharist on Thursday. We will be learning about Lesson 5, Bodies and Bullying in the Steps to Respect curriculum.
Math
Please review the lessons in Chapter 6 via the online re-teaching videos. Students should watch them as an added review for the chapter test next Thursday and Friday.

Science
Students will investigate the niche of the barn owl by dissecting owl pellets. Students will use a bone chart to identify the species of small animals that barn owls prey upon.
Social Studies
The Chapter 9 test is on Friday 3/6. Students should be reviewing the on-line pretest, rereading the chapter and studying their notes for tomorrow! Next week we will begin Chapter 10, Growing Tensions Between the Colonies and Britain.
LA
This week in spelling students focused on syllable breaks in words with a vowel-vowel pattern. Students used commas and semicolons to separate and set off sentence elements in grammar. In writing, students planned their next persuasive essay. Students are encouraged to check PowerSchool and turn in any missing assignments next week.
