Dear 5th Grade Parents,

Welcome to At Home Learning! We are excited to tackle this new adventure together. We believe that we can stay on top of our current curriculum and provide resources to show mastery of the topics during this closure.  Here are our plans so far:

 Press here: MATRIX

This is the center hub of where to check-in for assignments and due dates. From here, you will need to go to Google Classrooms or textbooks to complete work that is listed.

  • Starting on Monday, 3/16, students should check The Matrix for assignments on their “Google Homeroom Classroom”. Students should be checking every day for assignment updates.
  • Each Monday – Friday morning by 8:30am, teachers will post any new assignments or instructional materials (links, videos, documents, etc.) on The Matrix, so students should check each day to see what’s new! (We will not post assignments throughout the day, but rather only by 8:30am each morning.)
  • We encourage students and parents to contact us with questions during regular school hours, which are our “office hours” during the closure. Teachers will be regularly checking email and Google Classroom sites to stay in contact with students and parents.
  • For the duration of our closure, please refer to specialists’ individual webpages for suggested learning activities to do at home. These are also posted to The Matrix.

Without a doubt, this school closure will be a strange time for everyone involved, but we know that we can work together as a community to continue teaching and learning. One of the big minuses is that we will miss the vibrancy of the students being here in person. But perhaps a plus will be that we will grow as teachers as we evolve in our use of technology to support student learning. Another hope we have is that students continue to grow in independence and further develop their time management skills. Thanks in advance for your support, and know that we will be in touch throughout this time.

Sincerely,

Ms. Semandiris & Mr. Schreck
