Language Arts
Hello, and happy weekend! This past week, students completed a graphic organizer for Wonder using the theme of “families will always be there to support us.” We use this organizer and theme to draft an essay together. For many students, this will be their first time writing a five paragraph essay. I will be teaching and modelling the steps so that students feel ready for this assessment. All the hard work on those double-entries will come in handy when they write their own, as they will be able to access quotes from across the novel. On Monday and Tuesday, students will learn how to write an introduction and conclusion paragraph, and then we will put the practice essay together. Their own theme essay will be entered into Alma in the third trimester, so that we can complete more of the novel. We will also start part five: “Justin.” Expect a new double-entry (#7) to go home next week. Let me know if you have any questions, or if your child would like support bringing their grade up before March 4th.
