Dear Fifth Grade Parents,
Happy Valentines Day! I hope you all have a day filled with joy and love. It was really fun to see all the kids in Red, White, and Pink today! Thank-you to Mrs. Spadoni for organizing our class Valentines Day party. The following is a brief curriculum update for the following week.
Friday: Lesson 69, Fractions of a Second, Comparing and Ordering Decimal Numbers
Wednesday: Lesson 70, Writing Equivalent Decimal Numbers
Thursday: Test # 13
Friday: Investigation Pattern Recognition
We are working through Chapter 16. The study guide for this Chapter is due tomorrow 2/15. The test for this chapter will be Monday, 2/25. Please make sure your child studies for this test by rereading the Chapter and knowing all the information on the study guide.
Change in date for MASS below: Attention!!
We will be going to Mass during Lent on Thursday 2/21, as a class. Mass begins at 8:00am. Please encourage your child to go. I will put reminders on the Homework board.
The fifth graders are studying Chapter 8, Facing Slavery. We have been working very hard during class to learn about the various dilemmas the slaves faced. We will have a Chapter test Friday 2/22.
Language Arts: Students continue to review verbs. We will take a test on verbs in two weeks–on Monday, February 25th. Students will receive a study guide next week in class. There is not a spelling assignment or test this week, due to the extended weekend.
Continue working on Book Reports Final due date is fast approaching!! (Feb. 21st) Remember, the instructions and rubric can be found on my website.
We are also continuing to read The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. We will finish Ch. 8 before the break and resume our reading after the long weekend. Look for corrected Ch. 1-6 tests in this boomerang.
Students will learn what causes variations to occur within a species and how environmental changes affect species. Students will also explore what scientists learn by studying fossils. Students will take a test on chapter 4 next Thursday 2/21.
