April 30, 2020

Dear Fifth Grade Parents,

We are trying something new until the end of the year. We will be publishing all curriculum updates on the Matrix by 8:30am every Monday. You will still need to check the Matrix every day in case of changes. What the means is the Boomerang letter will not have curriculum updates. We will be sending out short Boomerang letter on Thursday’s with any general updates for the week.

At Home Camp Seymour Activities

Camp Seymour would have been May 6-8, 2020. It is so hard and disappointing that we could not go to camp this year because of the current Coronavirus Pandemic. Camp Seymour has put together some “At Home Activities” that we wanted to share with you. If you would like to do these at home next week from May 6-8, 2020 will be pushing out the link daily on Google Classroom Homeroom for specific lessons.

Next week from Wednesday to Friday we will also be incorporating some of the short videos from Camp Seymour on our morning zoom meetings for our homerooms. Students are encouraged to “Dress for Camp” ex: wear camp clothing, hats, fun bandanas, and sunglasses all day long May 6-8, 2020!!!

Also, students are encouraged to have their sleeping bag out and to attend all zoom lessons in or near their sleeping bag! (We will still be doing regular classes as well.)

Ms. Heuer’s Class:

A few updates/reminders:

  1. Please attend our weekly math zoom each Tuesday at 9 AM.  Students should come prepared with a pencil, notebook, and calculator.  Keeping a neat notebook with formulas will be helpful for our Thursday quizzes.  Great behavior at our Zoom this week.  Thank you!
  2. Each Monday, I am sending the students many math games that reinforce prior learning or help practice our new skills.  Please do these, and parents please encourage the students to try these.  They are fun, and they also take place of the daily warmups we’d do if we were together.
  3. Fridays are ALEKS days.  The students should spend a minimum of 45 min on Friday.  I can see many of you are making great progress!  Additionally, this is also a great day to work on the warm up games.
  4. All of the work you are putting in right now is vital to your success next year in Pre-Algebra!

I hope you all have a great week!!
